Young Leaders

The Young Leaders' Scheme is just one of the exciting programme elements in the Explorer Scout section.

All leaders in the Beaver Scout, Cub Scout and Scout Section who are between the ages of 14 and 18 must be members of an Explorer Scout Young Leaders' Unit. They are Explorer Scouts who choose to devote a large proportion of their time in Scouting to service in another section.

?

All,

As you’re probably aware the Government has now requested that all non-essential in person social activities are suspended. The Scout Association has agreed and mandated that all physical meetings across the UK will be suspended from tomorrow (Tuesday 17 March 2020). Hadrian District will follow this, however Scouting doesn’t need to stop.

As an organisation we are conscious that our young people are likely to need Scouting more than ever over the coming weeks and months. Nationally, as a County, and as a District we are looking into replacing physical meetings with virtual ones. This is still in the early phases but moving at pace and more information will follow later this week/early next week.

Hadrian District and Northumberland County are working on the following in the next few days and weeks:

1. Continuing Scouting on virtual platforms as frequently as we can. We will aim to have sections meeting weekly wherever possible;
2. Northumberland will advance our roll-out of Office 365 to all adult members to ensure we can continue to meet virtually; more information will follow shortly.
3. We will advance our roll-out of OSM to ensure everyone gets access to digital programme tools; more information will follow.
4. We have committed to working hard to find solutions and communicating what we’re all doing, sharing ideas and resources across scouting;
5. We will be supporting groups to deliver virtual programme and we hope to be providing District and County virtual events;
6. As quickly as possible we will ensure adult training can continue;
7. We will monitor financial issues and look to provide support on a case by case basis.

As a movement we are facing a once in a generation challenge. We truly believe that if we all respond positively, and “do our best” we will be able to improve the lives of the Young People we are here to support, and strengthen Scouting in Hadrian.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We will be in touch shortly.

Thank you,

Bruce, Gwyn, and David
